The Sun Also Rises Ernest Hemingway "I wanted to read The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway because I had never read a full-length novel of Hemingway's. I had listened to the audio book of The Old Man and the Sea, which was one of his short stories, which was excellent. I think it's a real talent to be able to describe events and people in few words, and so I really wanted to get a chance to read one of his novels since I had heard such good things about him as a writer. The Sun Also Rises is about Jake Barnes, who is living over in Europe, and his -- not necessarily his pursuit but his platonic friendship with Brett Ashley and also his friendship with a few other men including I believe his name is Robert Cohn, and just their I guess you could say adventures -- there's not a lot of stuff that they end up doing -- but they end up at the running of the bulls in Pamplona. It's a story that while Jake Barnes is the narrator, the story seems to center around their desires and feelings for Brett. I would give Ernest Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises five stars out of five stars. I think it was an excellent novel and one that kept me interested throughout. I think it's a very universal novel about the, just the struggle of generations and to find their place, especially in the modern world. So I just really liked how the themes that he brought up seemed to still be relevant today and will probably be relevant well into the future and how it's very universal."
