Dreams From My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance

Barack Obama

"I picked up Dreams from My Father because I'm interested in the Presidential candidacy and race that's coming up, and I think it's really hard at this stage of the game to find some readings that aren't pre-packaged by the candidates.

Barack Obama's book is really his journey to find his roots, and so it really is the formative years of his life in a very candid, self-reflective way. I knew nothing about him, and so this book is a real reflection of who this guy is. In fact, when he wrote - first wrote this first book, I think it sold like 5,000 copies. He - so it had nothing - it seems like it had nothing to do with his political ambitions, so I think it's a very honest book. He was thrown into the scene. There was a moment in time politically, and he grabbed onto it, and it's created this incredible debate, both in the Republican and in the Democratic.

I would recommend reading this book, anyone who is all interested in the political scene today. He's very ambitious, but he actually is someone who I could see his ambitions could go in a lot of different places. I would give this book five stars out of five."
